Is It Me? Am I The Drama?

 What is Drama?

Drama is a genre that is characterized by conflict and frequently favors realism over sensationalism. Dramatic films concentrate on everyday events, although other genres may use unusual or thrilling moments to evoke a sensation. Emotions and emotional situations are the main themes. Drama is a fairly broad category that transcends all eras and includes both modern storytelling and Shakespearean film adaptations according to Studiobinder.

There are many types of drama like:

  • Melodrama
  • Teen Drama
  • Philosophical Drama
  • Medical Drama
  • Legal Drama
  • Political Drama 
  • Anthropology Drama 
  • Religious Drama 
  • Docudrama
*Another type of genre that has become more popular is K-Drama which is Korean Drama shows or movies.

But the type of genre I would choose and possibly my group is teen drama. An according to Studiobinder “ The teen drama sub-genre is both simple and redundant. It focuses on the lives of teenagers, groups dynamics, and general woes of adolescents.” Even though this genre is used a lot I resonate with it more because the shows and movies put out is targeted towards a young audience, (middle schoolers and high schoolers), and it can even be targeted towards young but older groups like college students.  

The reason why I chose teen drama as my genre is because it can be mixed with others drama genre types or genres.  For example:

  • Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries or Sabrina The Teenage Witch 



With these shows they are teen dramas but have other genres included like fantasy or horror with wolfs and vampires in the shows.
  • The Fault in Our Stars


Which is a teen drama movie that uses melodramatics to give a sad tone and mood to the movie since it’s based around 2 teens with a sickness where one dies at the end. 

  • Pretty Little Liars


This show is a teen drama with other uses of genres like crime and thriller with there being a mysteries.

An thats just the surface level, theres much more shows and movies that teen dramas that include a mix of other genres or other types of dramas. So that why I would choose teen drama because it’s very versatile and can use other genres but it would still be considered a teen drama because of its targeted audience and has been used for years. Also because teen dramas are what I watch the most so I understand it more and what to put in and take out.

Today, we filmed our second part of our film.  Filming We filmed during first block and third block, so we got a lot more scenes done today then we did last week Thursday.  We filmed the second part to Jazmin, Chnicsha, and Fergie, but I'd say now Carltia's scenes. And we also filmed the first part that we filmed over again, now with Carltia in it as a replacement.  Who Helped? We didn't have Ethan to help like we did last time, so then I took over filming for the first part of their script and then Isabella, whose also in the film, helped record the scenes for the second part of the script. Major Changes‼️‼️

  Filming Today was the second day me and my crew were filming. But one of my group mates weren't at school, Fergie C (who plays the character of Lauren in the film), so my teacher said to just cut her out of the film all together, which sucks but it's what we had to do.  So, in the mist of things, we went on to find a replacement for her or understudy for her character as a whole. I asked around and my friend, Carltia Ghigliotty, offered to play the role of Lauren to help out.  *THANK YOU!!   And since we had to switch the actor of our film, we also had to re-record what we had filmed a couple days prior (last week). So that was very frustrating. But even though we had this hiccup we got further then we were previously when we first started.  Wardrobe Also, since we had to redo the scenes, we did before the character (Layla) had a different outfit, so we had to change the whole entire outfit for her as well, which is fine, just keep it consistent.  And for...
